How Tall or Short Can I Make My Grass?
When you cut natural grass you can decide how high or low you want to trim the blades. So what are your choices with artificial grass? Artificial turf is available in a range of pile heights. For a natural-looking lawn, 1.2 inches to 1.5 inches in height is the norm. To get the look of freshly-cut grass choose a pile that ranges from 1 inch to 1.2 inches. For a shorter, trimmer look opt for grasses from one-half inch to 1 inch tall.
What Turf Material Is Most Durable for Kids and Pets?
Nylon is the most hard-wearing material used to make artificial grass. So when it comes to kids and pets it’s a smart choice since it’ll be able to withstand heavy, regular use. A pile height between one-half to 1 inch is best suited for their foot traffic. A good quality grass should be hefty and have a weight between 4-6 lbs. per yard.
What Happens When it Rains? Will My Yard Flood?
Artificial grass is water permeable which means it’s designed so that rainwater will seep through its perforated grass fibers. When it rains, water drains through small drainage holes in the turf and into a “sub base” of sand or rubber below the turf, which helps to absorb the water. The rainwater is naturally absorbed by the ground beneath. In heavy rains, as with natural grass or dirt, some water will run off of the surface of the grass.

With artificial grass there is no dirt, only infill like sand or rubber, which is unattractive for pests to live.
