3 Maintenance Tasks You Need to Tackle Before You Sell Your Home

When you’re selling a home in Lakewood or Long Beach, you have to perform all its maintenance before you even list it. Check out this list of three maintenance tasks you need to tackle ASAP to make sure you’re not missing anything.

3 Maintenance Tasks You Need to Tackle Before You Sell Your Home

Maintenance is incredibly important when you’re selling your house, so make sure you:

  • Clean the gutters and check the roof

  • Have your HVAC serviced

  • Make sure the yard and walkways look great

Let’s take a closer look at each of these.

#1. Clean the gutters and check the roof.

You probably don’t think much about your gutters and roof, but if you’re listing your home, call a roofing company and get a free inspection. A roofer can come to your house and look at the entire system, including the gutters, and let you know if you’re going to need to make any repairs before you sell. It’s better to figure these things out before your buyers send an inspector up there - and you’ll be able to negotiate the repairs yourself rather than having to come down on the price of your home or having to negotiate with the buyers, too.

#2. Have your HVAC serviced.

Your furnace and air conditioning system need to be checked before you list your home. Again, this is something the buyer’s inspector will look at, so you want everything to be in tip shape before then. If you have a fireplace and chimney, have those inspected as well.

#3. Make sure the yard and walkways look great.

Curb appeal is incredibly important - especially because a lot of buyers will drive by long before they even set up an appointment to tour the inside. Your landscaping doesn’t have to be over-the-top, but it does have to be neat and tidy. Make sure that the entire exterior of your home is well-maintained so buyers don’t get a negative first impression.
