2 More Small Towns Near Long Beach for a Weekend Getaway

Every once in a while you may need to take a break from the daily grind. When you’re ready to slow down a bit consider taking a jaunt to one of these small towns near Long Beach to enjoy authentic local charm.

Cayucos, California.                                                                                You can make the four to five-hour drive from Long Beach to Cayucos into a fun road trip, or hop on a plane for a flight that’s less than an hour. Cayucos is a resort town that’s populated with cafes and antique and beach shops. The town has Old West flair and Americana to spare with a Main Street that you’ll likely find lined with American flags.

If you’re interested in a quick day trip from Cayucos you can take a ride along the Pacific Coast Highway to San Simeon to visit the beautiful Hearst Castle, built by newspaper tycoon William Randolph Hearst, and tour its stunning grounds, rooms, and works of art.

Davenport, California                                                                               If you’re a beachgoer who loves to hunt for sea glass you may want to pay a visit to Davenport Beach, one of the town of Davenport’s three beaches. The beach is known for the glistening sea glass that litters its shores, as well as the springtime wildflowers that cover its surrounding hills and unique rock formations. The city’s other two beaches, Davenport Cove Beach and Boony Doon Beach, are ideal spots to kick back in the sand.

Davenport is also becoming known for its great wine, so you may want to plan for a visit to one of its local wineries, or savor the selections found in its many restaurants.                                                                                                                                    A drive from Long Beach to Davenport will take a little more than six hours, but you can fly there in just under an hour.
